About Me

My photo
Aimee--I am now working! I have a great job as the Publications Secretary for a local Methodist church, and it is a wonderful part-time occupation. I am still kind of keeping up with my eBay business re-selling quality women's clothing--got to sell off the inventory! I love being a Christian and being with Christians...I love that this world is not the final state of things... Nate--Just call me Mr. Arkansas. I'm an Arkansas fan. I love the Hogs, I love the towns, I love the woods, I love THE ROCK. First and foremost I love God and the home and wife He has given me. I love the Bible study where I lead worship and teach on occassion. To find out more . . . Check out da Blog!!

Nate Speaks

After having my cat's name selection publicly dashed, I have privately consulted with myself and decided that although Sebring is most fitting (although it is only the name of the car, and not a mythical animal as I originally though), we can do better.

My official submission to the naming contest is: Saber.

Thank you for reading my unnecessarily super-dramatic post.

Naming Contest...

Here is the cutest new member of the family...

My in-laws farm cat had kittens and we took one. She is about 6-7 weeks old and is very sweet and even tempered. Good thing, considering our other pet. Yes, Bagheera is LIVID. She just stopped hissing at US today. We're hoping it will stop with the kitten in a couple of weeks.
I can't seem to come up with a name for her. But we can't keep calling her Kitten (we just got her on Monday). Nate wants to call her Seabring, but I am not really that keen on naming my cat after a convertible...

So, please leave a post and suggest a name for her. The name that is chosen will receive...well, nothing really. Except the satisfaction of having helped out and the bragging rights to say "I named that cat!" when you come to visit us.

She has really pretty markings, and I hope they become even more pronounced as she gets older. We are currently boarding her sibling as well, but just for a couple of days until we can drop him (?) off at his new owner's house (yes, poor Bagheera...).

August Update

Um....most of you know I have a job. I like it. If you want to know more about it, call me. This blog shouldn't be your primary source of info about me. Yeah, you know who you are.

I don't have any new photos to post.

I don't have any cute kids to show off. Nor any on the way, either.

My life has changed very little, if any at all, in the last few months. Literally. People at church are reduced to asking us how we like our house. We like it just fine, but we did move in a year ago...

I don't really have anything to say.

I haven't found anything post-worthy or link-worth on the internet lately (don't go in too much for that, anyway).

But I needed a post for August. So this is it. Enjoy. :-P

Okay, I found a picture...

After checking out the gorgeous sunflowers for $15 at Wild Oats, I settled for the $3 clearance ones at Kroger. They lasted about 4 days. Not too shabby...
I finally learned "take a picture, it lasts longer!" is really true...for flowers, anyway.

The Big Three-Oh

Yeah, I know.
I am officially O L D.

*sigh*

And today was the first day of VBS. :-D For as long as I can remember, VBS has fallen on my birthday. I can't complain, though...the teens are really doing great with the skits this year.

Since we decided not to celebrate until this weekend, I am going to pretend that I am 29 for a week longer.

On another note, here is a video for you to see how Nate is improving in his disc golf tee shots. :)

Don't know if they got it ALL right....

You Are An INFJ

The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity.

Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is.

You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience.

You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them.

In love, you truly see relationships as an opportunity to connect and grow.

You enjoy relationships as long as they are improving and changing. You can't stand stagnation.

At work, you stay motivated and happy... as long as you are working toward a dream you support.

You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

How you see yourself: Hardworking, ethical, and helpful

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Manipulative, weak, and unstable

...but some of it is Eeerily close! :-P (Yeah, I meant the last part, Mom).

Disc Golf

Nate's new hobby is disc golf! He is getting quite good. He placed 2nd in the Novice Division of the Southern Nationals at Burns Park, and we have discovered parks in Jacksonville, Cabot, Searcy, and Hot Springs. We play at Burns Park at least 3 times a week, and it is fun, good exercise, and best of all FREE!
Here is my first attempt at A: video of Nate throwing a disc
B: posting a video on my blog.

Unfinished Projects...

I have recently gotten into an art called Reborn dollmaking. Originally this art form started with taking vinyl play dolls and "refurbishing" them to lovely collectible dolls. I found it through eBay and I fell in love. The art has progressed so far it is now pushing boundaries, making more and more lifelike dolls. I found this cutie at Savers for a dollar and decided to try it for myself:

After I took the doll apart (removing cloth body and sleepy eyes), I washed her vinyl parts in baby shampoo and let them dry. Then using a special heat-set paint, I began to try to make her skin more lifelike:

So far, I have finished the paint (shinier than I wanted, oh well), added eyes and eyelashes (very time consuming, frustrating, and had many do-overs) and am in the process of rooting her hair with curly black mohair:

Pretty painted fingernails...

She is looking quite Native American, due to the low hairline. I had to bring it further forward on her forehead because of the grooves that were already there and I didn't have a dremmel to remove. In order to give her a full head of hair, I have a loooong way to go! And then it will still need to be cut and styled.

I have a cute, soft body all ready made for her by Gia Heath of Babycre8tions.com, and I just need to finish that head! I am posting this in hopes it will motivate me to finish.

Finished Projects

The front door is finished, and I decided to embellish it with a W! Nate says people will think it is in support of the president. :-P. I painted it myself--the color on the front matches the house, and the sides are the same as the door. I really like it!

I also made a keyholder, which conveniently hangs right next to the door.

And got a chalkboard through Southern Living which I put near the door to the garage. It is supposed to be for reminders like "Put Out Trash" so we'll see how it works...
